2023 AALS SECTION ON MINORITY GROUPS CALL FOR PAPERS: JUSTICE AND INEQUALITY

Submitted by Christopher Ogolla on Tue, 08/16/2022 - 10:10

The AALS Section on Minority Groups (SOMG) is inviting submissions for its next annual Works-in-Progress/New Voices (WIPs) session at the AALS 2023 Annual Meeting. The Annual Meeting will be held in person from Wednesday, January 4, 2023, through Saturday, January 7, 2023 in San Diego, California.

The SOMG will focus its annual WIPs session on current topics addressing inequitable legislation. Federal, state, and local governments, including courts, have recently created laws and regulations that are likely to have far-reaching effects on minority populations. Submissions may encompass practically any international, federal, state, or local law, provided that they discuss inequalities. We also welcome papers providing practice models for the future and suggesting how law schools can make a difference (e.g., through clinics, institutes, and other programs). The deadline for submission has been extended to September 1, 2022.

The SOMG WIPs session aims to provide a collegial forum for authors, especially junior law faculty, to present their scholarship at any stage of development to other scholars with interest or expertise in that area. The authors will benefit from feedback from a selected commentator and the audience.

Please email your WIP abstract (preferably 500–1000-word limit) and any questions to Chris Ogolla at cogolla@barry.edu.

Thank you,
Chris Ogolla, Barry Law (Chair)
Almas Khan, University of Arkansas
Danielle Wingfield, University of Richmond
